BookMachine is coming to Toronto for the first time! If you work in publishing and live in or around Toronto, we're pleased to say that Tahira Rahemtulla, of Unambiguous Edit, will be hosting the very first BookMachine Toronto shindig.
If you aren't sure what to expect, you can check out previous reviews from Felice Howden of Little, Brown (London), Helen Tozer of McGraw Hill (Oxford) and Ellen Jacob of jacob packaged goods/bookerella (New York City).
Just look out for the BookMachine signs and friendly faces and you'll soon find out why:
"BookMachine is the most fun you can have in publishing with your clothes on"
(according to Lisa Goll, of the London Writers' Cafe).
Who goes to BookMachine parties?
Well, a combination of people really. First of all you've got publishing professionals - designers, editors, publishers, marketeers, sales professionals. Then there's book lovers and writers. And not to forget, a few app developers, games designers and publishing students.
What do you actually do?
We've organised talks, gimmicks and contests in the past, but we've found that the best ingredients for a good party are simply a great venue, chatty people and some drinks. Don't worry if you don't know anyone - it's always a friendly crowd!
You'll be able to see the list of attendees below, as folks sign up - be sure to let us know if there's anyone particular you'd like to meet; and we'll happily 'do the intros'.
Can't wait to see you then!
